When I founded Source Events to create gay travel around the world, I began to share my vision of unique and inspiring cruises with my circle of friends, one of whom suggested I meet with Windjammer Cruises. What I loved about Windjammer was how open and accepting they were of our gay community. They had actually been doing gay cruises on their own since the 80’s and loved the idea of Source Events chartering one of their ships for our gay friends. So, I traveled to the Caribbean and sailed on one of their ships, the S.V. Mandalay. It was the first time I ever experienced the magic of tall ship sailing, and I knew that our friends would love it.
So, we chartered the Mandalay. Timed it for a full moon week, and invited like-minded friends to sail. Coincidentally the full moon was also a lunar eclipse. We sailed with friends from St. Lucia to Antigua, dancing under a full moon, watching movies under moonlit sails, and sometimes even sleeping under the stars. We even had a full moon, lunar eclipse dance party, and bonfire on the island of Nevis at the local beach hangout, Sunshines. It was an unforgettable week filled with friends, fun, music, and adventure. It was also the launch of Source Events and our gay cruises aboard Windjammer.
We are excited to be returning to the Windjammer Mandalay for 2 sailings to celebrate Source Events 15th Anniversary of our first gay adventure aboard the Mandalay. The first week is a Full Moon Sailing from St. Lucia to the Grenadines returning to St. Lucia, February 25-March 3, 2018, and the 2nd week of sailing departs from St. Lucia and continues through the southern islands to Antigua, March 4-10, 2018. This 2nd sailing will retrace the route of our first Source Events Gay Sailing Adventure aboard the Mandalay.
Get ready to get to be transported back in time and feel like you’re sailing under a picture postcard. Whether you’re jumping off the ship and floating in the sea, going on a hike up a volcano, or just relaxing and doing nothing, you’ll find the Windjammer Mandalay is sure to be an unforgettable experience.
